Salah – Five Daily Prayers

These are fixed acts of ritual worship performed five times a day at set times; before sunrise, after mid-day, during the late afternoon, immediately after sunset, and during the night. Prayer establishes a spiritual link with Allah and thereby prevents us from falling into evil and sin. It is an opportunity to refocus our minds and remind us of our true purpose in life, which is to worship Allah alone. Prayer contains one of the most important forms of worship: prostration. We lower our heads in humility and servitude. We glorify Allah, seek his forgiveness, and ask for His guidance. All prayers are completed facing the direction of the Kabah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The original Kabah was the first house of worship to be built on earth by the Prophet Adam. This unites Muslims all over the world in an eternal circle of worship of Allah.
